Registration for the Legislative Training Days is filled

Registration is now closed. If you want your name to be placed on a waiting list, please contact MÂCHÉ at info@mache.org

In 1776, a group of common citizens with a Biblical model, a vision for the future, and an unshakable faith in an Almighty God began to change the way the world looked at civil government. These civilians chose not to be afraid of what was, but to stand confidently for what should be. That is our heritage as Americans.

Today, God has given to each of us the responsibility of maintaining that system of government. This is why MÂCHÉ so strongly encourages all its members to be actively involved in both their local and state politics and it is for this reason that MÂCHÉ has put together this opportunity to spend two full days learning about the legislative process "up close and personal".

So are you willing to get involved, but just don't know quite where to start? Well, we can help with that!

The 2013 Legislative Training Days happens on Thursday and Friday, January 31 and February 1, 2013 at the Minnesota State Capitol in downtown Saint Paul, Minnesota.

MÂCHÉ member parents and their home educated high school students (16 years old or older) are invited to learn the inner workings of state government through interactive workshops, presentations, and tours of the Minnesota Capitol. This two-day training event will begin at 8:30 AM on Thursday and will conclude by 3:30 PM on Friday. This seminar format is designed for home educated students (16 years of age or older) and their parents. MÂCHÉ membership is a requirement and students must be accompanied by at least one parent.

The cost is $30.00 per person. Registrants will be responsible for their own hotel and meals while attending. For those who need to spend the night in St. Paul, the Kelly Inn (651-227-8711) is closest to the Capitol. You will find maps to and of the Capitol available here.

Check out the "FAQ" tab above if you still have questions that we haven't answered. Any other questions should be sent via email to info@mache.org or telephone to 763-717-9070 or 866-717-9070.

What Will I Learn?

Both students and parents will observe and practice the legislative processes such as the following:

  • How a bill becomes law
  • How to meet with legislators
  • How to obtain documents and information
  • How to check on the status of a bill
  • How to navigate the Capitol
  • Various careers involved in the legislative process, such as legislative pages, legislative assistants and committee assistants

Can I Get More Involved?

There are many ways in which young people can get even more closely involved with legislators, the legislative process, and politics in general. A few of these are...

  • High school Page Program
  • Get involved in your local caucus
  • Volunteer for a local candidate

Ask yourself what issues are important to you. Then do your homework! Is there a special group of people or a particular cause that you could work with? Discuss it with your family! Is there something you could all do together?

And last but not least - pray about it! Many of our greatest national revivals began with the faithful prayers of one or two people to a God who lives. Little is much when God is in it!
