Modern man is in a deep, deep despair because he has lost hope. Nietzsche went mad because nihilism made no sense to him. The total dichotomy of reason and non-reason leaps into a great blind (unfathomable area) in spite of reason which is separated from truth. The upstairs and downstairs are two separate, totally watertight compartments and it makes man only a conditioned machine in a dichotomy of thought. Modern man cannot escape himself with his non-reason or his own limited reason. Man has denied what God made him to be and thus lost hope.
