Encouraging Leaders in the world, not of it

“For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” ~ Romans 15:4

MÂCHÉ liaisons have had the pleasure of interacting with many of the support group leaders around the area, either by phone or by email.  Especially in this last year we have noted that many leaders are feeling heavy burdens in their groups.  What is a leader to do?  With so many changes occurring around us with new legislation popping up and groups making many executive changes, leaders are feeling the weight of these issues.

We have also been blessed to converse with groups that are experiencing a very rich and rewarding leadership board. We would love to hear from them in our breakout sessions on how it can be done.  Through all things we must seek the Lord, and He will set our paths straight.

Please come and be our guest for the 2013 MÂCHÉ Support Group Leaders Retreat (SGLR), a daylong event that is guaranteed to leave you with nuggets of truth, refreshment, and encouragement as you begin the new school year advancing the cause of homeschooling in your communities.

MÂCHÉ is excited to welcome back Larry Guthrie as the keynote speaker for the retreat.  You may have been blessed to hear him at the 2011 MÂCHÉ Conference in Duluth. Come hear his words of wisdom as he uses Scripture to share simple truths that will help us navigate this changing world around us.

Overview of sessions

Our Keynote Speaker, Larry Guthrie, will present two sessions. His workshop titled "The Weakest Link" (1 Cor 1:27) illustrates the need to turn weaknesses and foolishness into strength and wisdom. His second workshop, "Breathing" (Genesis 2), illustrates four distinct techniques that help to keep us going when times get tough.

Support group leaders will enjoy the very popular "Breakout" sessions, where leaders within certain geographical areas meet together and discuss current issues that they have in common. Please come share resource information with other support group leaders in your area.  This has always been a rewarding experience and a highlight for the support group leaders.

We will have a very interesting Panel discussion surrounding legislation happening in our state and nation which may affect homeschool support groups. Will the new marriage amendment affect the homeschooling support groups and what is a leader to do?  How and what are our responsibilities to families teaching children with disabilities? Panel members are Jerry Ophoven (Lawyer), Evan Wilson (Minnesota Family Council), and David Watkins (Pastor). Keith Soencksen will be the Moderator. There will be plenty of time for Questions and Answers.
