Register for the Conference

REGISTRATION AND REFUND POLICY: For the greatest savings, register online by January 31, 2012. If you wish to mail in your conference registration, contact MÂCHÉ, and we will send you a paper registration form. Credit cards will be accepted for online and on site registrations. Mail-in registrations require that you send a check. Note: Mail-in registrations will not be accepted after March 10. You must register online or on site. Click the "Fee" tab above for the various registration fees and deadlines. One-day, partial-day and exhibit-hall-only passes are not available. If a refund becomes necessary, MÂCHÉ will refund 50% of the registration fee, provided we receive your written request by March 31, 2012. All refund requests will be processed after the conference. It may take up to 12 weeks for you to receive your refund.

SPECIAL ASSISTANCE: If you need special assistance in order to attend the MÂCHÉ conference such as an interpreter for hearing impairment or a wheelchair, inform MÂCHÉ of the specific need by March 10, 2012, to allow us enough time to make the necessary arrangements.

WORK SCHOLARSHIPS: MÂCHÉ is able to provide a limited number of work scholarships to adults and students (16 years of age or older at the time of the conference) who are willing to serve for a few hours during the conference. (Students should be able to work independently as a student volunteer.) In return for your service you will receive a complimentary conference registration. The only prerequisites are that you must be a current MÂCHÉ member, and you must have attended at least one MÂCHÉ conference in the past. Previously volunteers have been able to request the type and time of service they prefer; however, this year MÂCHÉ will reserve the right to assign workers where they are most needed. GRANDPARENTS: We encourage grandparents to participate in the MÂCHÉ conference and to learn as much as they can about home education. Grandparents who are not home educating their own children may attend the conference at no charge with their registered children. Please register grandparents through your MÂCHÉ registration account. You will pick up their name tags along with your own at the conference.

MISSIONARIES AND PASTORS: Homeschooling missionaries who are on deputation and would like to attend the MÂCHÉ conference may attend as guests of MÂCHÉ at no charge. Missionaries should send their prayer cards and a letter of request to attend the MÂCHÉ conference.To help pastors understand more about home education, conference attendees are encouraged to bring their pastor and his wife (who are not home educating their own children) to the conference at no charge. Your pastor should write a request to attend the MÂCHÉ conference as your guest on official church letterhead. All letters should be postmarked by March 10, 2012, and addressed to Missionary/Pastor Conference Registration, P.O. Box 32308, Fridley, MN 55432. They will be contacted by MÂCHÉ after their information has been reviewed.

USED CURRICULUM SALE: You must be registered for the conference in order to sell or shop in the used curriculum area. If you would like to sell your used homeschool curriculum, reserve your table when you register. All table reservations must be postmarked by March 10, 2012. The used curriculum sale will be open Friday and Saturday, 8:00 AM–5:30 PM.



Prepare for the Conference

HANDOUTS: Workshop handouts will not be available at the workshop sessions. You should download and print the handouts of the workshops you want to attend ahead of time and bring them with you to the conference. You will find the handouts linked from the individual workshops’ description pages ("Speakers and Workshops") on the MÂCHÉ website from April 1 through May 31.

CHILDREN AND INFANTS: The primary purpose of the MÂCHÉ conference is to equip and encourage parents as they educate their children in the home. It is an educational opportunity for parents. Many home educating parents use this weekend as an annual get-away as a couple. Orderly children 12 years and older may attend with their parents. However, MÂCHÉ does not encourage the attendance of children under age 12. There is no nursery or play area available. There is a $30 fee for each child attending. (The on site registration fee for children is $40.) There is no charge for infants under 18 months. Please note that strollers are not allowed in the conference and exhibit areas, so you will need to carry your child. MÂCHÉ will provide a quiet, comfortable nursing mothers’ room for mothers with nursing infants up to age 18 months. Husbands and other children are not allowed in this room. During workshop sessions please be aware that even an infant’s happy sounds make it difficult for those nearby to listen to the speaker and for us to produce a clear audio recording. Please plan to sit near the back of the room for ease of exiting when necessary.

STROLLERS, CARTS, AND ROLLER LUGGAGE are not allowed in the conference and exhibit areas due to safety and liability issues. These must be left at the coat and book check as you arrive. You may return to place items in them any time when the coat and book check is open, Friday and Saturday, 8:00 AM–5:30 PM.

MEALS: As with all our venues the RiverCentre does not allow “outside” food or drink to be brought into the facility. Food may be purchased at the RiverCentre for lunch on both days and dinner on Friday. Note: If you have health issues that require you to bring your own food into RiverCentre, please obtain a statement from your doctor or a medical card indicating your need for a special diet. Keep this with you in case you are asked about it. There is no special protocol required to obtain permission from the venue in advance.

Experience the Conference

NAME TAGS AND CONFERENCE PROGRAMS: Doors open at 8:00 AM. You may pick up your name tags when you arrive at the conference. Your name tag is your admittance ticket to the conference and exhibit hall and must be worn at all times. If lost or forgotten, replacement name tags are $5. One conference program will be provided for each registered family. The program will include information about workshops, schedules, speakers and advertisements (including some conference discounts from our exhibitors). On site registrants will receive programs as available. Plan to arrive early enough to allow time to peruse the program and become familiar with the activities for the conference weekend.

COAT AND BOOK CHECK: There is a nominal fee of $2 per day for two bags/boxes ($1 for each additional bag/box) to store your coats and purchases in a safe place while you attend the conference. Carts, strollers and roller luggage should be stored here and may also be used to hold your belongings while you attend workshops or do more shopping. The area is open Friday and Saturday, 8:00 AM–5:30 PM.

CROWDED WORKSHOPS AND FIRE CODE: None of us enjoy crowded workshops. We know it can be very disappointing when you cannot get into the session you were planning to attend. We do the best we can when deciding in which room to put each speaker, yet we are not always able to determine which workshops will be most popular at a given time. Please understand that if you are turned away by a room host or hostess because the room is full, it is due to fire marshal regulations. If we allow overcrowding in a room, the fire marshal can come in and close down the entire conference (not just the affected workshop). We suggest that you get to the room early or choose an alternate workshop in advance. If all else fails, order the audio from the audio booth. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

EXHIBIT HALL PROTOCOL: Many of the homeschool exhibitors in our exhibit hall are experts in their field and are very willing to take extra time to explain their various products for you in great depth. We encourage you to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to gain knowledge and information. When an exhibitor takes the time and effort to explain a product or gives you some sage advice, and you decide to purchase the product, we strongly encourage you to buy your product from that person instead of making your purchase elsewhere to save a little money. Not only does this help preserve an atmosphere of trust and sharing, it also encourages the return of knowledgeable, well-established exhibitors to our annual conference. Note: There are no exhibit-hall-only passes. Only registered attendees may enter the exhibit hall, which is open Friday and Saturday, 8:00 AM–5:30 PM.

AUDIO RECORDING: General sessions and all workshops will be professionally recorded and available for purchase as individual CDs or in MP3 format on site. You may also purchase and download workshop CDs and MP3s from the MÂCHÉ website immediately following the conference. No personal recording devices will be allowed.
