Sheila Bien and her husband Jordan live in Stacy, Minnesota – a small town about 40 miles north of St. Paul. They have twin sons whom they home educated during the 1980s and 1990s (through high school graduation). The boys are now married with children of their own. Sheila finds it a privilege and enormous blessing to be a grandmother!
In the early years of homeschooling, Sheila and her sons spent time at the state capitol as the new “compulsory attendance law” was being developed. Eventually this law gave credence to home education and sparked in Sheila the need to be knowledgeable concerning the laws relevant to home education. For many of her active homeschooling years, she coordinated a local support group which provided unity as the parents dealt with their local school district.
Currently Sheila is involved in a variety of ways within MÂCHÉ, including responding to email messages sent to MÂCHÉ. Sheila is passionate about homeschooling as an educational option, and it is her desire to encourage and help parents as they seek to teach their children at home.
