“How Long Does God Expect Me to Do This?”

This is what the lady on the other end of the phone said when I answered my first phone call for my job as a parent-liaison working with adopted, foster, and kinship-care families. In this workshop, we will talk about raising children who have, as my wife puts it, “holes in their hearts.” Love is good stuff. In the adoption world, it is seldom enough. These children need love, forgiveness, grace, understanding, and a whole lot more. Many times parents have told me that they raised three biological children and they all turned out good. Now they have an adopted child and nothing works. As adopted parents, we must learn different strategies.
