GEORGE MUELLER(1805 - 1898), the great benefactor of orphans, was born in Prussia. Even while studying for the ministry he lived in sin and crime. His lifestyle changed upon his conversion, however, and Mueller moved to England and applied for service with the London Missionary Society. He was rejected and began to preach wherever he could. He opened the first orphanage in 1870. During his lifetime he raised over 120,000 orphans and read the entire Bible 200 times.
