FRANCIS WILLARD (1839 - 1898) was founder of the Women's Christian Temperance Union. She was the victim of a broken love affair. The man she loved was a divinity student, but he would do nothing but quote Calvinistic theology to her. She was also a contender for women's suffrage. She was both professor and college president as she campaigned for her cause. At one time she worked with D. L. Moody.
