Duchamp came right out of the Dada or 'chance' period. This loss of hope and meaning is depicted in the concept of the 'happenings'. “Happenings” professed that there was no reason why art should have meaning because nothing else has meaning. All is chance and man is a part of things as a 'Peeping Tom.' Everyone today is caught up in the 'world of chance'. There are no more boundaries, only confusion.
