Man's Attempts to Relieve His Tension

The reason man needs relief is he sees himself as a part of the 'machine'. He has no influence on history. Man wants to be significant but can't make himself pay the price. The Biblical position says man is separated from God by his own sin and all man's troubles stem from his rebellion against God. To flee this problem man calls himself a machine and shirks his responsibility only to find that he can't live with his chosen intellectual position.
