Current Legislation in Minnesota
If you have information on pending legislation that might affect homeschooling, please email the MÂCHÉ Legislative Liaison at firstname.lastname@example.org
MÂCHÉ Stance: This legislation could interfere with homeschooling. Children should remain in their current educational environment if possible.
SF1520 - Removing an exemption from immunizations.
MÂCHÉ Stance: MÂCHÉ supports a parent’s right to make their own informed medical decisions for their child based on their convictions and conscience.
SF3606 - Early learning and child care provisions to require kindergarten readiness assessment and quality rating and improvement system evaluation modifications and appropriation.
MÂCHÉ Stance: MÂCHÉ supports a parent’s right to make their own informed decisions regarding kindergarten readiness.
MÂCHÉ Stance: Requiring caseworkers to interview a child age four or older first and separate from their caregiver should not be the norm. In exceptional cases where this protocol is merited, a court order should be obtained.
MÂCHÉ Stance: MÂCHÉ is concerned that this proposed amendment would lay the groundwork for the stripping away of more parental rights, and open the door for stronger state control of the family.
HF1/SF820 - Early childhood; additional funding and opportunities created for children ages birth to three; programs and funding for prenatal care services, home visiting, early childhood education, and child care assistance governed; and money appropriated.
MÂCHÉ Stance: MÂCHÉ is very concerned about what we feel would be an encroachment on parental rights and unnecessary government over-reach into the family.
SF4061/HF12 - Conversion therapy with children or vulnerable adults prohibition; medical assistance (MA) coverage for conversion therapy prohibition; misrepresentation of conversion therapy products or services prohibition
HF2041/SF261 (very similar to SF4061/HF12) - Conversion therapy with children or vulnerable adults prohibited, medical assistance coverage prohibited, and conversion therapy services or products misrepresentation prohibited
HF3071 - Early childhood; children ages birth to three additional funding and opportunities created; home visiting, early childhood education, and child care assistance programs governed; and money appropriated
MÂCHÉ Stance: Government intrusion
MÂCHÉ Stance: Government intrusion and infringement of parental rights.
HF4494 - Rights of parent in education of their child established, and constitutional amendment proposed.
