Seeds of revival are being planted across America and it is time for families of faith to make a stand! Join Kirk Cameron, Jungle Missionaries The Wild Brothers, and Counselor and Speaker Mark Hancock for an evening you will not soon forget. Trail Life USA has assembled three homeschool authorities to challenge, empower, educate, and inspire. Listen in as the Wild Brothers challenge youth and parents to make a stand on Wild Truths as they share stories of how growing up as homeschooled missionary kids in the jungles of Indonesia equipped them to live their faith as young men in America. Be empowered as Mark Hancock presents clear direction for raising up a generation of youth prepared not only to stand against the rising tide of culture, but to turn the tide itself. And be inspired as Kirk Cameron presents a vision for America as old as the nation itself. Don't miss this unforgettable night as families gather at 7PM on May 19th to experience the American Campfire Revival!

Mark will be talking on Lies About You:
The most powerful words that define and direct you may never have been spoken out loud. They are the words you say about and to yourself. And believe it or not, no matter how young you are, you’ve already got a set of words that you say to yourself – things that you believe about yourself that can either weaken or strengthen your resolve. They can free you to achieve, or they can freeze you in place.
What lies have you accepted about you? What limits have you self-imposed? God may be calling you to reject some lies and embrace some truths. He may be calling you to engage where your resume doesn’t qualify you, where your lineage doesn’t qualify you, where your experience doesn’t qualify you.
If what you are doing can be accomplished in your own strength, you have to ask yourself if it’s worth doing anyway.
It’s time to…pursue the things you feel called to but have convinced yourself that you can’t. And by the will and power of Christ, beyond what you are able to accomplish yourself or even believe about yourself, you can believe the truth. He is the ultimate source of what is true about you. Believe that.

Raise Them Up, Don’t Crush Them Down
Workshop Room: Ballroom 1
By: Dr. Mark Hamby
Children need to hear the beating of our hearts rather than the beating of our voices. Listen to their words and you will discover their heart. Rules can change behavior, but not their heart. Discipline is necessary for purposeful disobedience, but irritating character flaws are transformed by truth and loving correction. As each day begins with new compassions, only then will children feel safe to admit their faults and seek help from those they love. It is love, not fear, and grace, not law, which rescues their hearts. Join Mark as he shares his experience as a shepherd and the unforgettable lesson that you don’t become a shepherd just because you own sheep.

In this new age of digital learning, parents are discovering that their outwardly successful students are struggling. Handouts:Cover-to-Cover: Charting The Pathway to Biblical Literacy by Village Schools of the Bible
Workshop Room: Suite 112
By: Ryan Habbena
Biblical illiteracy is a major problem today. People think they are Biblically literate when they aren’t. Few people understand how the entire Bible fits together. And few people understand the Gospel (how to explain, proclaim it or defend it) even though it is of first importance (1 Cor.15:3-4). This workshop presents a pathway for Gospel centered Biblical literacy and Bible based worldview formation.
Handouts:Escapism: Avoiding the Snares of Media
Workshop Room: Suite 108
By: Chuck Black
In today’s technology culture, the enemy’s lure of our young people’s minds to escape into an artificial world is great. As the line between reality and simulation blurs, the stronghold of escapism becomes more and more powerful. Apathy and self-indulgence are two destructive consequences that lead to broken relationships, broken homes, and broken hearts. Find some practical tools you can implement to help keep your children from getting caught in the snare of escapism.

Handouts:Let Me Go! Resolved Conflicts and Restored Relationships
Workshop Room: Ballroom 1
By: Dr. Mark Hamby
Based on the manipulative life of Jacob, his rival relationship with his brother, the lack of relationship between his mother and father, and the many stressful marital conflicts, the stage is set for a child’s life of deception and self-deception. In this session, parents and teens will learn how their pursuit of unconditional acceptance can lead to a life of manipulation, control, and rebellion. Not realizing that grace (unconditional favor) is always free, they try to earn the right to be loved as they confuse the costly assignments that God gives for His blessing. Journey with Mark and Jacob and learn how to find unconditional acceptance in all the right places; but be prepared to fight because once you’ve found what you are looking for; you’ll need to fight for your life and the lives of those you love! This seminar is based on Mark’s two years of research for his thesis, covering sibling rivalry, marital conflict, parental insights, and the truth that unlocks God’s grace and blessing.

We, the Keepers of History
Workshop Room: Suite 107
By: Angela O’Dell
Many of us grew up despising history – or at least what was passed off as history! As the author of the heart-focused history curriculum, America’s Story and The World’s Story, Angela shares her heart and passion for teaching history in a fresh and relevant way for this generation of homeschooling parents and children. Angela’s motto is: if it’s boring, it’s not real history! The hundreds of thousands of families who tune into her immensely popular history podcast, Real Cool History for Kids (launched in July 2019), agree with her – there is nothing better than hearing amazing history stories told from a distinctly Biblical worldview perspective. Only by learning through this perspective can we understand our own true position and purpose for such a time as this.
But learning history is not all fun and games. As history marches forward, more and more libraries – public and private – are purging older, first-hand accounts of what are now considered to be antiquated and politically incorrect events throughout history. As an avid antique book collector (and rescuer), Angela has amassed an impressive library of hundreds of books dating back to the early years of our nation. Part of this session is a discussion about how we, as home educators, can and must take part in saving these accounts for future generations.
A few other topics covered in this workshop…
- Why is it important to learn history from a Biblical worldview? Isn’t history just history?
- When should I start teaching my kids history?
- Do I have to teach history in chronological order?

Handouts:Developing Discernment in an Age of Dystopia
Workshop Room: Ballroom 1
By: Dr. Mark Hamby
In an age of amusement, we must guard against influences that excite the senses, circumvent reason, and foster gullibility. Through the art of storytelling and the prodding of the mysterious ancient Shepherd of Ecclesiastes 12, parents will learn how to test the worthiness of stories—the collection of words that represent an author’s worldview. Discover how discernment can be developed through stories that inspire godly character that is costly, compelling, and heroic. (Rom. 5, Eccles. 3, Song. 8).
The themes of love, compassion, courage, and friendship that dystopian heroes promise as the new rule of order sound good in a story but do not work in the real world. Love without absolute truth leads to hypocrisy and eventually, oppression. Some may argue that dystopian stories demonstrate sacrificial love but their agenda behind their love is to overthrow what they see as oppressive authority. If Jesus were living on earth today, his Father’s requirements and assignments would be seen as oppressive and tyrannical. Submitting to the will of God under difficult trials demonstrates the highest degree of trust and love. Obedience to the Father’s will is the real battle and children need to be guided carefully so that they recognize that one’s fight is not against their parents or spiritual guides, but against spiritual wickedness that targets each individual with lustful corrupting influences to disobey. (Heb. 5:7, 8, KJV).

We read literature, in part, because we need to imagine virtue and valor, heroism and strength. This act of imagining both teaches us what it is to be good and attracts us by the allure and beauty of the telling. But not all admirable protagonists are the same. We meet very different archetypes in strong figures such as Theseus, chivalrous figures such as Galahad, and holy figures such as Saint Francis. In this talk, I will explain the progression from Hero to Knight to Saint, with examples from the classical literature, and I will argue that you should have all of these abundantly in your child’s curriculum.

Handouts:The Epic Battle between Wisdom and Folly
Workshop Room: Ballroom 1
By: Dr. Mark Hamby
Travel through Proverbs 1-9, and learn why the “fear of God” is a prerequisite to His love and how the “fear of the LORD” can turn careless children into cautious thought-full decision makers. Learning to love what God loves and hate what God hates is foundational for a child’s worldview to develop properly. As the story of Wisdom unfolds, experience the unforgettable lessons of Wisdom’s ways and Folly’s entrapments. Both Wisdom and Folly promise prosperity, prestige, protection, and pleasure. Learning how to distinguish between Folly’s false promises and Wisdom’s guiding truths will help children develop discernment to avoid false flatterers, beguiling beauty, and enticing touches, especially with their peers and the culture at large. The choreography that Solomon has created in these chapters provides an unforgettable dramatic unfolding of truth of epic proportions. One lesson among many is that when one follows Pleasure, she will bind, restrict, and addict, but when one follows Wisdom, Pleasure will follow, bringing freedom, restoration, and rewards. Through the knowledge gained in this seminar, you can lead children to the house of wisdom to enjoy the enduring benefits of favor with God and man.

While most learning today focuses on curriculum, motor skills are the foundation of every skill we learn. “We must perceive in order to move, but we must move in order to perceive”. Neuroscience gives us ways to enhance brain connectivity, which allows a child to absorb what’s being taught, so they naturally perform at a whole new level. When you address the source of brain connectivity you can transform the quality of life for your child and your entire family.
In this workshop, you’ll learn the formula for success:
~The neuroscience behind ongoing learning and development barriers
~How to strengthen brain and body connectivity to overcome barriers

When A + B Doesn’t Equal C
Workshop Room: Suite 108
By: Angela O’Dell
We all want our children to grow up to embrace our faith in God. This is, after all, one of the main reasons we homeschool. But what happens when our homeschooled child walks away from our families’ faith or never makes it their own? What must we parents do about it? Although this is not a fun topic to discuss or explore, the fact that we are losing a high number of our young people to the insidious pull of secular culture demands we address it where it matters most: in our homes. In this workshop, Angela addresses the much-avoided topic of unexpected outcome: when A + B ≠ C. Pulling from personal experience and the testimony of numerous other parents who have walked the road of this kind of loss, Angela brings hope and truth concerning our prodigals, to the homeschool table. This session will encourage homeschooling families at every stage of their journey.

Patrick Nurre - Teen Track Speaker
Patrick Nurre is both a speaker and author. It was in the second grade when he made his first big find – a large dinosaur bone in the alley behind his house! That was the beginning of a love for geology. Raised in beautiful Montana, he spent many days rockhounding near the Big Horn River. This early interest led him to a lifelong study of the world of geology. Patrick was trained in secular geology, but after becoming a Christian, he began to seriously reevaluate his previous evolutionary beliefs, and became, instead, a young-earth creationist.
Today, Patrick conducts geology classes (PreK-12) and seminars in the Seattle area, and speaks at numerous home school and church conventions on geology and our young earth. He also leads a variety of geology field trips every year, including Yellowstone Park, where he helps families discover the Biblical geology of the Park. Patrick is the vision behind Northwest Treasures, a 501(c)3 corporation, devoted to creating excellent geology kits, curricula, and education for all ages. To help in this endeavor, Patrick has written 17 books on geology, for all ages. He is a long-standing participant in the IAC (International Association of Creation) Professional Development Program. In addition, he draws on over 40 years of pastoring experience. Patrick and his wife, Vicki, have three wonderful children and three grandchildren, and live in Bothell, Washington.

The following provides a brief description of the sessions being presented:
Session 1 – The Keys to Understanding Apologetics
Why am I here? Why am I on this Earth at this particular time and stage in my life? Do I have a clear understanding of the world around me and the nature of Satan, God’s enemy? Do I understand God’s purpose in this world and how I can serve Him in His work to get this done? All of these questions are important to answer to have a good understanding of apologetics. We will set the stage in this first all-important session in understanding the keys to grasping the nature of apologetics.
Session 2 – Four Powerful Words in Apologetics
In our second session we will get to the heart of apologetics – communication! Are we communicating to win the argument or are we communicating to reach the conscience? Huge difference! Winning arguments only promotes anger. No one likes to lose. Learning and practicing four simple, yet powerful words will help us in our relationships with people to reach their conscience so that they can respond in faith.
Session 3 – The Framework for Answering the Tough Questions
What is the real reason why the subject of origins is such a thorny topic of conversation within the church? In our third session together, we will construct a framework that will help us answer most of the tough questions we will encounter in defending the Bible’s position about origins – the age of the universe, the age of the Earth and of man.
Session 4 – The Age of the Earth – How reliable are the Chronologies and Genealogies of Genesis?
At the heart of any question concerning the unobservable history of the universe is WDGS! We will learn this short acronym to help us tackle any question we face, both for our faith and the faith of others. It will also help to keep us on the track of reaching the conscience and not just winning the argument.
Session 5 – The Genesis Flood – The Great Pivotal Point of Earth History
For over 150 years the scientific community has taught us that geology is a science that absolutely demonstrates the Bible to be myth. Is this an accurate and true statement? How are we to know? After all, most of us do not have an in-depth understanding of geology. We will learn some basic geological concepts that will help not only our own faith but will also help others to have faith in the Scriptures.
Session 6 – The Genesis View of Man – The Key to Unraveling the Confounding Doublespeak in Today’s Culture
The country we live in today is not the country of our fathers. Even in my own life I have seen changes that have shocked me and forced me to re-think how to reach the conscience of those who are confused and questioning the Biblical view of morality. We will try to unravel some of the language used in our new American societal vocabulary and how it relates to Genesis. We will also learn how to get the topic back where it really belongs – WDGS!
Session 7 – How to Study the Scriptures to Equip Myself to be a Better Disciple of Christ
In this session, I will share my personal journey of faith and some ideas I have learned along the way to help you get the most out of your Bible study. These ideas will also help make you a better student of English, science, history, and communication.
Session 8 – The Trifecta of Growth in Faith and Knowledge of God
Everyone realizes that a key in growing as a Christian and being a good servant is maintaining balance in our lives. In our last session together, we will examine three key ideas for keeping the balance in our faith as we are challenged again and again with life’s curve balls and disappointments.

Testimonials
The MACHE Convention is like the ultimate date weekend for my husband and I. Not only do we enjoy the getaway and refreshment, but we have intentional time to learn together, set new goals, and recalibrate. There are very few other things that put us on the same page like this weekend does. There's so much to love! As a Jesus follower, book lover and conference junkie,... being there with my husband is like heaven!
I know a lot of work goes into these conventions and I just want to say thank you so much! This was my husband's first year going and he was amazed at the speakers and resources available. He said it was the best Bible conference he has ever been at and he doesn't understand why more people aren't going! You made a life long attendee! Nice work!
The 2019 MACHE Conference was such an incredible blessing! This is "year 14" for me as a home school mom, and after struggling with chronic illness the past two semesters, this conference was just what I needed (even while running on little energy). Thank you for finding such encouraging and convicting speakers, and bringing such a wealth of materials, vendors, and experience to the conference again this year! Truly blessed
I always love going to the MACHE conventions! I was just telling my in-laws that we wouldn't have become the parents nor the homeschoolers we are if it wasn't for MACHE. It is an excellent tool when a family is just beginning all the way through teenage years. It has been vital to the sucess of homeschooling, family and my marriage. The conferences have given us invaluable resources every single time! I am always excited to go back!!
Our family first attended the MACHE conference in 2014 while trying to decide whether to remove our kids from public school or not. After that first Thursday session in 2014, we made the decision to follow our calling from the Lord and bring our kids home. We haven't looked back since. We attend the conference every year to really refocus our hearts and minds, receive encouragement and education, scan the curriculum options and most importantly, connect with other homeschooling families. MACHE is a true blessing and we are grateful for all of the time and effort to put on such a useful, meaningful and special event. Keep up the good work MACHE!!
I am so thankful that I was able to attend the convention again this year. The Lord met my husband and I there throughout the various workshops and speakers...encouraging us and confirming His direction for our next year of home education.
My husband and I had a wonderful, refreshing time at the conference! God graciously answered every question I had before heading into the weekend. Every speaker we saw spoke just what we were hoping to learn about. Thank you Lord and thank you MACHE for such an amazing time!
Thanks for all your countless hours of work putting this convention together. Your sacrifice does not go unnoticed. We always love the MACHE conference and leave uplifted and encouraged. Our kids are not sure they like it since we always come home with new ideas and convictions, like less screen time.
Thank you so much to all who work and plan to put on the MACHE Convention Weekend. I have always been encouraged and blessed. Praying that this ministry will continue to be available for many many years to help strengthen families in the Lord.
This event was a new experience for us. I enjoyed it much more than I expected and found myself coming away refreshed, encouraged, and equipped to make positive changes and plans for the next year.
