2025 MÂCHÉ Homeschool Day at the Capitol

February 13 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm

Homeschool Capitol Day 2025

What is Homeschool Capitol Day?

Each year, Homeschool Minnesota - MÂCHÉ hosts Homeschool Capitol Day at the Minnesota State Capitol, uniting homeschooling families from across the state to celebrate our freedom to homeschool and engage directly with state legislators. This event provides a unique opportunity for families to express their gratitude to lawmakers for safeguarding these freedoms and to voice any concerns about potential legislation that may impact homeschooling in Minnesota.

Why Participate in Capitol Day?

While MÂCHÉ diligently works year-round to protect the rights of homeschoolers, legislative sessions often include bills that could significantly impact homeschooling freedoms. Many legislators lack firsthand experience with homeschooling or a clear understanding of how their decisions affect homeschooling families.

By participating in Homeschool Capitol Day, you can help bridge this gap. Meeting legislators face-to-face creates meaningful connections, ensuring they are familiar with the families whose lives their decisions influence. These relationships have encouraged legislators to seek input from homeschool families when considering relevant legislation.

How Can You Get Involved?

There are several meaningful ways for you and your family to contribute to the success of Homeschool Capitol Day:

  • Advocate for Homeschooling: Schedule a meeting with your state representatives to introduce your family and thank them for their service. Our goal is for every Minnesota legislator to receive a personal thanks from a homeschooling family.
  • Partner in Prayer: Join our prayer initiative by following the daily Capitol Day Prayer Guide leading up to the event. Together, we can cover our legislators, homeschooling families, and state in prayer.
  • Serve as a Capitol Liaison: High school students can volunteer to deliver special gift bags to legislators. These personalized deliveries allow students to serve as ambassadors for the homeschool community. There will be a required virtual training session to discuss the general protocol for interacting with legislators and their staff and to cover any updates regarding legislation that we are monitoring.
  • If your student would like to serve as a Capitol Liaison, please email legislative@mache.org for more information.
