Play Safe! Be Safe! Fire Safety training

The Minnesota State Fire Marshal Office is offering a free training on the Play Safe! Be Safe! curriculum. The training is free and includes all materials and a toolkit. The training is sponsored through grant funding and is offered by an award winning national program. The training is on Nov. 7th at 9:00 am at New Brighton Public Safety Training Center. Workshop participants will learn: – How vulnerable preschool children are to fire and burn injuries – About the frequency of children’s misuse of fire, their distorted perception and limited capacity to understand the potential danger of fire – Effective, developmentally appropriate methods of teaching fire prevention to preschool children – How to motivate children and families to behave safely using the principles of the Health Belief Model of Behavior Change.
