Border Home Educators (BHE) is a support group for the families located in the International Falls, MN and Fort Frances, Ontario, Canada area. We have scheduled parent support meetings quarterly and welcome both traditional homeschooling families as well as those that are on-line enrolled schooling. We offer a weekly “homeschool gym” time at the Evangelical Covenant Church (I-Falls) where children participate in different team sports with a group leader. This year, we have started a homeschool children’s choir, which meets weekly. During this weekly time, the parents may participate in a non-formal support meeting where we share curriculum ideas and encourage each other. We offer group skiing once a month during the winter season at Giant’s Ridge in Biwabik, MN. In addition, we try to organize one field trip a month to offer our members. We offer to our members the opportunity to participate in group standardized testing annually with the Stanford Achievement Test, which is highly attended.
Border Home Educators Mission Statement: Border Home Educators (BHE) is an international facilitating organization for parents who have chosen to home educate. BHE endeavors to provide information and support to home educators. We believe that parents have a God-given responsibility for the education of their children; whether they delegate this job to others or carry it out personally. BHE seeks to encourage families in Biblical principles. It is BHE’s desire to assist parents in passing on to their children a Godly heritage instilled through Judeo-Christian principles and to “bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.”
