Many of us know of someone or have someone in our own family who struggles with depression, anxiety, or some other form of mental illness. Because of the stigma behind mental illness, many families suffer quietly and hide their struggles. It’s time we talked more openly about this challenging illness so people can get the support they need. This session will cover potential warning signs of mental illness, ways to help your child if they are struggling in this area, the importance of self-care for you as a caregiver, and some resources available to help. With a BS in Social Work and a son who struggled with mental illness, Kris has a passion to help families who are dealing with this difficult illness.  (Although the focus will be on helping a child, much of the information shared will be applicable to helping any loved one who is dealing with mental illness.)
